Job Summary

 

The Maintenance Scheduler’s primary responsibility is the detailed planning of all mechanical and IE maintenance work that will be executed by the plant’s maintenance workforce. The essence of scheduler position is to schedule all maintenance jobs such that craft productivity and plant operational up times are maximized.  The associate is the primary liaison between operations, maintenance, and engineering groups and maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done.  The associate will work with the Maintenance Manager to meet budget requirements, will serve in a team coaching capacity.
 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Support and promotes EHS procedures and policies in the maintenance scheduling process and execution. Leads plant safety culture initiatives through maintenance scheduling activities.
  • Develops job specific plans (work steps, materials required, permits required, etc.) for maintenance work, using SAP.
  • Determines job scope and requirements in the field and by interacting with requestors, coordinators, crafts, and leaders.
  • Forecast future resource requirements based on work backlog maintained in the SAP PM module.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance turnaround activities, facilitate turnaround meetings, assist the Maintenance Supervisor in coordinating contractors and crafts.
  • Uses existing key performance indicators and develop new trending systems to improve maintenance planning, scheduling, expense forecasting, equipment reliability and cost control.
  • Assist Engineers with planning and scheduling capital and expense projects.
  • Prepares weekly & daily work schedules by working closely with the Production Leaders, Schedulers, Maintenance Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, and contractors. Facilitates daily and weekly scheduling meetings with all key stakeholders.
  • Follows all government and company mandated safety policies while planning and coordinating work. Follows all corporate and site maintenance/reliability procedures while planning and coordinating work. Communicates deficiencies and create recommendations for improvement.
  • Screens and process incoming work order notifications; validates priority and content with Production/Maintenance coordinator and Shift Supervisor.
  • Determines resource needs, parts, and any special requirements.
  • Requisition services and materials using SAP. Follows government and company mandated procurement policies.
  • Screens incoming work order notifications for Management of Change (MOC) applicability.
  • Categorizes such notifications and communicates with key stakeholders.
  • Owns development of standardization of maintenance repair processes and procedures.
  • Technical ability to adapt to meet ever-changing demands or priorities.
  • Reviews and provides technical feedback to the Maintenance Leadership team on repair activities and job requirements.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Planner to plan day-to-day manpower and resources.
  • Manage Maintenance department direct reports and vendors in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Planner.
  • Acts as a maintenance department system matter expert for maintenance CMMS technical resource needs.
  • Provides technical maintenance team management and leadership to other Bakelite facilities.
  • Supports other Bakelite facilities with maintenance CMMS technical expertise to improve procurement and plant uptime.
  • Technical system matter expert for the ownership and management of the maintenance equipment files.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of one to two employees.
  • Creates and maintain bill of material for plant equipment through the Maintenance SAP CMMS system.
  • Support the plant Mechanical Integrity program by scheduling MI inspections with respective Inspection firms.
  • Create SAP training documents.
  • Support the training of plant team members in the use of maintenance SAP functions.
  • Review all PSM MI inspections to prioritize action repair plans.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment records in the maintenance CMMS SAP.

Education and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Must have 5 years maintenance mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation experience.
  • Must have 5 years maintenance scheduler experience.
  • Strong technical understanding and problem-solving skills.
  • Planning capacity for coordination of multidisciplinary work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well and communicate in a timely manner with staff at all company levels.
  • Strong technical IT knowledge with CMMS system experience, preferably SAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine, and process drawings (P&ID, PFD, and Isometrics).
  • Must have or meet requirements for a TWIC card.
  • Some travel expected 10%.
  • Physical ability to walk, drive, stand and lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly.
  • Physical ability to enter confined spaces and wear a respirator.
