Senior Associate/Managing Associate - (Contentious construction)
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Our nationally recognised real estate group makes up 50% of our client business and covers the full spectrum of property law. As a vital part of that offering, our specialist contentious construction team are now looking to further expand and are keen to hear from candidates with in-depth experience of contentious construction to work within an ambitious and growing team of specialists. The role can be based from either our London Victoria or Tunbridge Wells office.
About the role
The team work across the full spectrum of construction and engineering litigation including construction related professional negligence, disputes concerning office, retail and leisure developments as well as social housing projects, often working closely with our non-contentious construction colleagues as well as with other parts of the real estate group. Clients include landed estates, charities, banks and pension funds. Both the head of construction (a litigator) and the head of non-contentious construction have been recognised for their expertise in the field so the role would offer an excellent opportunity to continue your personal development working alongside them and the rest of the team to build your practice/personal brand in this sector. Our lawyers are also well supported with an internal infrastructure (including utilising the latest legal technology), that will allow you to focus on providing 1st class client care and legal expertise.
About you
We pride ourselves on making a difference to our clients. Our lawyers are therefore passionate about providing empathic client care and commercially minded legal advice. As a contentious construction lawyer, you will be confident at providing in depth expertise on various client issues by leveraging past experience running your own case files. A passion for business development and promoting your own personal brand will also be beneficial as well as an interest in legal technology as we look for ways to streamline and reduce the effort to serve our clients. We will also consider candidates from a commercial or property disputes background, who are keen to transition into contentious construction law.
You'll spend at least 60% of your working week in the office, though we know there is no one-size-fits-all and arrangements may vary from role to role. Our strong culture is founded on working together in the office, which we aim to maintain through our people being regularly co-located, working cohesively and in collaboration with one another.
