We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Whittlesey Block team in the position of SHE Coordinator.

 

This position will provide support and coordination for all Safety, Health and Wellbeing activities on site, plus facilitation of the Environmental (and quality) management standards as part of the businesses Integrated Management System (IMS).

 

The role holder will coordinate the systems and processes that exist to monitor and control our compliance to legislation, internal policies as well as being the focal point of both internal and external audits and proactive SHE improvement activities.

 

They will be the individual on site who will support Operational Management to maintain high standards, champion innovation and solutions to issues, promote positive culture and safety working practices and deliver the IMS to prove compliance. They will share best practice from other parts of the business or external forums to drive continuous improvement.

 

Your duties would include but not limited to the following:

 

  • Oversee all company standards (Inc. the Golden Rules) within their area of responsibility
  • Coordinate the issue of task authorisations for employees using SP008.F7
  • Coordinate employees training processes and records, to demonstrate competence
  • Communicating policies and procedures to operational management
  • Assist sites to meet their health and safety objectives
  • Manage actions that are identified for health, safety and environment (and quality) within the relevant database
  • Oversee audits of the site to demonstrate compliance
  • Assist the business to maintain legal compliance
  • Lead by example, to create a positive health and safety culture
  • Coordinate the accident and incident reports for health, safety and environmental issues at the site using the relevant database and assist with investigations
  • Coordinate the prompt investigation of accidents, plant or property damage, dangerous occurrences and environmental incidents or breaches
  • Ensure the timely submission of sustainability data within the relevant database
  • Maintain all safety related statistics for the site (Near Miss, Near Hit, Incidents, Accidents) within the relevant database
  • Assist with visits from Local Authority, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency and other outside agencies as necessary
  • Support the responsible manager in ensuring that the site complies with all aspects of the environmental permit
  • Coordinate the site Building Safety Together meeting for the Responsible Manager
  • Coordinate health surveillance for all applicable colleagues
  • Undertake regular health and safety inspections
  • Escalate health and safety issues they cannot be effectively deal with
  • Coordinate the training matrix for their area of responsibility
  • Coordinate employees training to the SOP’s in place
  • Spot check the contractor control and permit to work processes to ensure they are correctly followed
  • Assist with inductions for employees, contractors and visitors as necessary
  • Coordinate the risk assessment zone plan and the creation and review of risk assessments for all activities
  • Assist in the creation of risk assessments
  • Communication and implementation of best practice guidance, incident alerts and training
  • Maintain documentation within the IMS system for clear visibility of compliance
  • Assist with the creation of policies and procedures for the central IMS system
  • Providing support to Responsible Managers and their team on health and safety (and the wider IMS), assisting them in their duties to manage
  • Maintain the sites health, safety and environmental (IMS) notice boards

 

About You:

 

  • Confident nature, with the ability to talk to colleagues throughout the site to promote good safety behaviours.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with management to maintain standards.
  • Generate new ideas to improve performance, assisting management to translate these ideas into practical solutions.
  • Ability to use computer systems (Intelex and SharePoint) plus Microsoft applications.
  • Good levels of self-discipline.
  • A confident presenter of data, facts and information.
  • Flexible approach to work and prioritisation of tasks.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hands-on operational environment.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and being a visible presence on the shop floor.
  • To be able to attend SHE Coordinator meetings as necessary away from home site.
  • NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent level) in Safety Management; or be on an internal development program to bring them to this level within 3 months of appointment.
  • Understanding of ISO management systems (9, 14 and 45001)
  • Ideally have an IEMA 2 day Managing with Environmental Sustainability (or equivalent course) or be on an internal development program to bring them to this level.
  • Auditor experience in any of the following ISO management systems 9001, 14001 and 45001
