Project & Impact Manager - Knowledge Exchange

Salary: From £34,000 per annum, negotiable dependant on experience

Contract: 2 year FTC

Hours:  35 hours per week

Reports into: Knowledge Exchange Manager

Location: Hybrid - flexibility to work from home and at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Milton Park - Oxfordshire)

Getting face to face is something KE values and there will be international travel. The Jisc main offices are in Bristol, Harwell, London and Manchester; the KEO meets regularly in Bristol 

About the role:

Knowledge Exchange (KE) is an international collaboration of six partner organisations: CSC (Finland), CNRS (France), DeiC (Denmark), DFG (Germany), SURF (Netherlands) and Jisc (UK). In their respective countries, the six partners are responsible for the development of infrastructure and services to support the use of ICT within education and research.

 

Jisc is the host organisation for the Knowledge Exchange Office (KEO), which facilitates activities between the partners. The KEO is responsible for supporting, developing and implementing KE’s projects, processes, tools, outputs and communications, ensuring these align with the requirements of all six partner organisations and serve KE as a whole. 

 

In this interesting and diverse role, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing KE project lifecycles by developing and implementing initiatives and processes from project conception to impact evaluation. You will have the opportunity to work closely with KE project teams to define, plan, deliver and evaluate projects, providing guidance, advice and leadership as required.  

 

This will also involve working closely with other members of the KEO to ensure KE operations are effective and efficient; with the Communications and Engagement Manager on stakeholder and beneficiary engagement and impact development; with the Operations Coordinator on project processes, governance and tools; with the KE Manager to ensure there is clear and consistent progression of activities. 

 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve KEO-led project and related process management. 
  • Motivate, influence and direct relevant teams to drive the completion of objectives and facilitate discussions. 
  • Drive project management and governance and lead on project reporting, including preparing relevant documentation conducting stakeholder analysis, managing risks, issues and changes, tracking budgets, evaluating and closing projects often involving multiple stakeholders at each stage. 
  • Lead on impact planning, assessment and evaluation, including identifying activity benefits and beneficiaries, and collecting evidence of impact. 
  • Manage project-related finance and procurement processes within KE, in alignment and compliance with the Jisc systems and procedures, Lead KE project meeting planning, organisation, and minuting, across multiple time zones, producing clear and concise minutes of complex and technical discussions, for native and non-native English speakers.  

 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven project management and impact evaluation skills, including those relating to quality and risk.
  • Experience managing and supporting complex international projects, implementing and maintaining working processes for cross-country and cross-organisational collaboration. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building and influence.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with proven ability to articulate complex requirements to all audiences.  Ability to assimilate new information and develop solutions to problems with initiative, professionalism and empathy.;
  • Experience managing and organising in-person, online and hybrid meetings, workshops or webinars, internationally 
  • Experience working with financial, budgeting, procurement and contracting processes and software. 
  • Experience working with external suppliers, sector contacts, contractors and consultants. 
  • Ability to manage a large and varied workload, working autonomously with a variety of stakeholder groups and suppliers. 

 

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or equivalent experience at this level.
