Location: Remote (UK based)
Hours: Part-time (1-3 days per week)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £86,336.99 - £94,970.69 (depending on experience)
As an Abortion Care Doctor, you will join a national team of doctors working remotely, providing medical assessments and support for individuals seeking abortion care. Working from home under the UK Government's permanent approval for early medical abortion (EMA), you will be responsible for:
- Evaluating clients' medical history to assess suitability for medical or surgical abortion.
- Providing first or second signature for Form HSA1 under the Abortion Act 1967.
- Prescribing medications, including abortifacients and contraception.
- Offering medical advice to ensure clients can access the most appropriate treatment.
- Completing statutory documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
What we’re looking for
We seek compassionate and skilled doctors with experience in general practice, obstetrics & gynaecology or sexual and reproductive healthcare. You should be comfortable working remotely and digitally, communicating with colleagues via email and MS Teams, and managing a diverse caseload remotely with the expectation to be onsite for training/meetings on adhoc basis.
Key skills & experience
- GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- DRCOG and/or DFSRH qualifications (desirable).
- Abortion care experience (preferred).
- Proficient in IT skills.
- Strong clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice.
- Proficiency in prescribing contraception (UKMEC guidelines).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equality, and safeguarding principles.
