Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield

Permanent, Full Time

Salary £32k - £35k – Depending on experience + Flexible Benefits

NG Bailey are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Officer to be based on our customer site in Sheffield, at Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

Meadowhall shopping venue in Sheffield covers 1.4 million sq ft of floor space and is home to 290 stores from top independent and international brands, 50 places to eat and drink, and an 11-screen cinema. 

The Health and Safety Officer will be part of the Health and Safety team and will be based within the Centre management suite. As such you will play a key role in delivering and maintaining a positive health and safety culture. You will liaise closely with the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager and the wider management team, relating to all aspects of health and safety performance, ensuring continuous improvement to safety standards, systems and procedures, implementing legislative compliance and best practices across the organisation. 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include: 

  • Have primary responsibility for reviewing and processing all contractor permits to work or permits to access, closing down completed permits.
  • Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for contractor works in common landlord areas.
  • Carry out health & safety inspections, audits and checks as directed and outlined in the inspection plan, including weekly roof checks.
  • Assist the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager, to ensure that all Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.
  • Carry out contractor Health & Safety audits and inspections in line with the inspection schedule or as directed by the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager.
  • Assist the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager with insurers and solicitors in relation to personal injury claims and collate any necessary information as requested.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses as directed by the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager.
  • Ensure that you keep the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager updated on your workloads and your work tasks.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and producing concise, factual reports and professional documentation, correspondence, and emails
  • Monday to Friday 40 hrs per week 0800-1630 Free parking

 

What we’re looking for:

  • NEBOSH General – (Preferred but not essential)
  • IOSH membership - (Preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with good customer awareness skills.
  • Sufficient insight to pitch written and verbal communication appropriate to the recipients.
  • Be computer literate with the ability to use standard MS Office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Qualifications in Mathematics and English Language (GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent
