Job Title:         DEPOT TEAM LEADER

 

Reports to: Depot Manager

Department:      Transport

 ROLE SUMMARY

 

To assist the Depot Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of the distribution depot and fleet including the sample collection service and any 3PL warehouse duties where applicable. To provide cover for the depot manager when absent ensuring a reliable customer service. Supervise the team effectively. Carry out warehouse & driving duties as and when needed to ensure deliveries are met in line with service guarantees.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES & ACCOUNTABLITIES:

 

  1. To assist in the management of the depot.

 

  • Asssit the Depot Manager in all aspects in the day to day running of the operation.
  • Assist the Depot Manager with any conduct / performance issues, including carrying out investigations.
  • To deputise for the Depot Manager during holidays and other absence.
  • To gain knowledge of all routes and to provide cover for the delivery drivers, as and when required, to ensure provision is not disrupted.
  • To assist with unloading/loading and breaking down of goods into their routes.
  • To be fully aware of vehicle tracking and temperature monitoring tools to ensure the fleet is compliant.
  • To help and mentor new permanent or agency drivers.
  • To supervise all the drivers including Agency drivers.
  • To alert the depot manager of any problems regarding the fleet, building or equipment.
  • To prepare the load for next day including the checking of any returns.
  • To keep up to date with any new computer programs, new company procedures and new legislations.

 

  1. Administration
  • Creating daily / weekly / monthly management reports and KPI’s when the Depot Manager is absent.
  • To ensure all daily paperwork is completed accurately and thoroughly.

 

  1. Communication
  • Liaise with other departments including customer services and managers in relation to delivery issues etc
  • Communicate issues affecting the performance of the depot to the Depot Manager.

 

  1. Health & Safety
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times including wearing of any PPE supplied
  • Promote Health & Safety awareness throughout the depot environment
  • Be aware of relevant Risk Assessments and Fire Assessments
  • To report any near misses or accidents.

 

  1. Other Duties
  • To be aware of and follow Company Standard Operating Procedures
  • To assist when required with other functions within the Operation.
  • To attend any inductions/training/meetings even if this means overnight stays.
  • To carry out regular checks on the fleet, checking for damage, wear & tear, mechanical faults and cleanliness.
